Pride Month starts in a few days, and I’ve already seen a few dissenting posts suggesting that we don’t need Pride Month or that June should be designated to recognize others.
For those of us in agriculture and rural communities, Pride is also a chance to ask questions and start conversations. Who feels safe here? Who feels like they belong? Who has chosen to blend in and hide parts of themselves because it was easier than being judged for being visible and true to who they are?
Pride In Agriculture is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

I’ve written before about why Pride Month still matters, especially where LGBTQ+ visibility is limited or misunderstood. Take a few minutes to read this earlier entry and think about WHY we celebrate Pride Month in agriculture and rural communities, and how allies can help create more inclusive communities this month, too.
As we enter Pride Month, I’d love to hear from you: What does meaningful support look like in your rural community? What are we doing this month to move conversations forward to address the challenges LGBTQ+ people in our rural communities encounter?
If you want to be more visible in your Pride and allyship this month, check out the Pride In Ag merch shop where you can pick up a new t-shirt, hoodie, or a few accessories.
There is a new Pride In Ag sticker available just in time for Pride Month, too!
All proceeds go toward hosting Pride In Agriculture and bringing this advocacy work to larger audiences.
