Making Space for Pride In Ag

When I sit here and think about the year for Pride In Agriculture, it was without question the year of greatest impact, as this work continues to grow.

Using the stats from my posts, Pride In Ag reached over 380,000 people during the month of June alone. That never involved any viral reels, creative visuals, or paid marketing campaigns. Those are just the views on this written content being shared from the website and in a few social posts.

The number surprises me when I say it out loud because I know it’s only a measure of the start that multiplied into several conversations.

Yes, there are larger paid campaigns and viral reels that reach way more people. But that’s not what I’m after. I’m curating written resources that people can keep coming back to. I want to spark conversations, not just chase virality.

And that number isn’t about me; it’s about how many times this message was read and shared by others, which were the seeds for those conversations.

When I think about the conversations this sparked, I know Pride In Agriculture is reaching beyond my inner circles and starting to reach those who need to hear it.

There are stories like Stuart Chutter’s that continue to inspire people.

You don’t have to choose between who you are and the life you love.

LGBTQ+ people have always been part of agriculture, even if we weren’t always visible. Today, inclusion means more than just being “welcoming.” It means showing up, making space, and challenging the stereotypes that suggest we don’t belong. (Instagram)

And then there are the critics who show up and help me realize that we’re reaching people who need to hear this message because they’re the ones who demonstrate the need for us to have these conversations.

And I’d be remiss to not mention the encouragement that came from people sharing how Pride In Ag stickers and t-shirts helped to spark conversations and visibility on these topics with people in communities across the country.

Knowing how this grew in 2025 makes me think about what I want for 2026. I was recently asked where I see this going. Long-term, I’d love to see support show up financially so we can show up in several was for the farmers, ranchers, and rural communities that need these conversations.

In the meantime, though, I’m looking for help to support folks in rural communities with the tools we need to feel seen or to have tough conversations with family or in small rural businesses where other support networks are difficult to find.

In the next year, I want to see how we can bring these conversations to life. How do we take the conversations about how to navigate these conversations and provide a sense of belonging that can be found in a workplace ERG and make them accessible for those of us who don’t have those support networks to lean on? How do we bring greater visibility to the work and leadership LGBTQ+ people are bringing to life in rural communities and across our industry?

What did you see from Pride In Ag in 2025 that you’d love to see grow as we move into the new year? How can you make space for pride in agriculture in 2026?
